Rebellion Brewery Open Day gig

23:31

We all had a great time at the gig today, and the hundreds of visitors seemed to enjoy themselves too. The beer might have had something to do with that.

Unfortunately, Club Django had to pull out. So, after putting together a set list for 2 hours, we were asked to play for the rest of the afternoon. We managed to do this, albeit with a few repeats.

Weather was dreadful at the start and end, but dry in mid-afternoon. However, we were in a large tent and there was plenty of shelter for the visitors. Although the rain might have dampened the bodies, the spirits were OK.

Massive thanks to Andy for taking care of the sound for us today. Not only did he set hs PA up and keep it working in difficult conditions, he also had to drive:-( Drinks are on us next time we see you Andy.

  1. A big thankyou to Alan too, for liaising with Rebellion and Andy, hosting amplified practices, keeping us all informed, helping Andy set up in the morning, overseeing the runnning order etc and managing to take photos as well!

Also a big thanks to Dave at TJ O'Reilly's for letting us practice there on Wednesdays with more noise than usual!

And a big thankyou to Rebellion Brewery for hosting their open weekend with free beer for all, including their new pilsner, and for looking after us so well. We look forward to the next one!

As a member of Marlow Bottom Acoustic Club I'm sure I speak for us all in saying what a fun few weeks we have all had both at TJ O'Reillys, at Alan & Rosie's and at Reto's session at Flackwell Heath Football Club (every other Thursday). On Saturday we really enjoyed both the beer and the performing - it was a great day despite the intermittent rain.

And finally another big thankyou to all the revellers who listened, tapped their feet, danced, sang along and came and told us how much they'd enjoyed the music. There was quite a variety of tunes and songs - e.g. from Folk to Neil Young to Joni Mitchell to The Kinks to Nanci Griffiths to Snow Patrol and White Stripes - so something to suit most people's tastes.

For anyone who hasn't visited the club yet, we would love to have a few more local musicians and/or singers come along to join us on Wednesdays. There is no charge for entry and all styles of music and all levels of playing are welcome - in fact the more variety the better.
