I learned this song way back when I was a kid and have no idea why I still remember it. I may have unwittingly changed it a little. I don't know who wrote it but could probably google it now and see. I try to sing it once a year when it's seasonally appropriate:

As I remember, we sang this in music class in middle school or high school, and at the ending while one part sang "birds" others came in with a chorus of "four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree."

Excellent to know you soldiered on regardless .... in true folky fashion! And yes, I was stuck in mud at Towersey the previous weeknd and on the 1st Sep was setting up in Wallingford ready for the Bunkfest... hope to be back at MBAC next Wed, Bottom Line permitting as we are playing at Dog and Badger on Tuesday.

for an American, this was a great refuge back in the early 70's. The country music night was so unbelievable the first time I was there a long with the wonderful people. I remember vividly the "Fete" and even have a picture of the free house and friends on the steps. Great memories! I hope to visit again sometime in the near future!
